Civil Process Division

Caldwell County Sheriff's Department Patch

What is civil process?

Civil process is the delivery of various court documents to be served to individuals and / or other entities for court procedures as dictated by various Revised Statutes of Missouri and Missouri Supreme Court Rule 54. These laws also dictate that the Sheriff, or an assigned deputy, are to perform all civil process duties unless a private process server is appointed, or another option is permitted by the court.

Caldwell County Sheriff's Department serves approximately 1,500 documents per year for civil process. There are numerous steps taken by CCSD staff to complete the service and ensure that proper records are kept in the manner prescribed by state law. Due to the limited number of staff and the various other duties they are obligated to perform, the CCSD has a well-defined procedure to follow regarding civil process to ensure all legal responsibilities are met. These procedures will not be deviated from.
