K-9 Axel and Corporal Zachary Feil


The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office was excited to begin a new adventure in 2023 when they were able to bring in a new officer, K-9 Axel, who is the first of his kind under Sheriff Mitch Allen.

 

K-9 Axel was sworn in on April 23, 2023 as the K-9 for Caldwell County Sheriff's Office.

 

Axel is a Belgium Malinois that was born on September 20,  2021 in the Czech Republic. K-9 Axel was purchased from Shallow Creek Kennels in Pennsylvania with a grant provided by the State of Missouri. Axel and his handler, Corporal Zachary Feil, spent 8 rigorous weeks training at the Boone County Sheriff's Office K-9 Training Center. K-9 Axel is a dual purpose K-9, trained to detect narcotics, apprehend subjects, as well as tracking. He is certified with the North American Police Work Dog Association and the Missouri Police Canine Association.
